I saw the first half of the Weeping Angels two parter (The Time of Angels) last night. A big improvement over last week and I was taken by surprise when it ended.

Was fun. There were explosions, flying things, and occasional flashes of character. Oh, and an easter egg after the credits. :)

Film or Book X was good and won serious awards so of course it isn't science fiction. Sigh.

Between Planets is always an odd duck for me amongst the Heinlein juveniles. I recall it being one of the last ones I read, partly because the opening with the ranch was so far outside what interested me ( Read more... )

I reread this recently and it was, as always, a fun read.

One thing I did notice was the extent to which the survey mission felt "tacked on" at the end, much like the business with the scooter at the end of The Rolling Stones. In an almost "ran out of story but still need to hit word count" kind of way.

Quick Review: Yikes!

...Is the title of the next Honor Harrington novel and it will be out in July. The eARC is available now as is the cover art.

As far as the plot goes I'm kind of hoping that the cover art won't be accurate. I suspect it will be though.

Well I just spent a pleasant afternoon reading Robert A. Heinlein's The Rolling Stones on the iPhone. As usual it was a fun read but I noticed some new things along the way.

I saw End of Time Pt 2 just after new year's day. It was entertaining enough, in its own way, I suppose. It has taken a while for my thoughts to crystallise beyond that.

I've just read the sequel to Crown of Slaves by David Weber & Eric Flint. Fun read and certainly major setup piece for the next mainline Honor Harrington book.

I will note that the authors have in the past come up with some truly memorable one-liners (despite not being particularly well known for brevity generally).
